The delayed start of the school year, a solution to compensate for the delay of some students
In our previous articles, we talked a lot about the concept of a staggered start to school. Indeed, unlike other solutions that allow the student to catch up during the year, the staggered start of the school year starts between January and March with the same more intense program, because this school year must end at the same time as the normal school year.
The other solutions that have long been used: the accelerated path, the catch up, the completely delayed curriculum.
Why do we have a staggered start to school?
What are the advantages of going back to school at a later date? In fact, more than 40% of students drop out of school due to poor orientation. Several other reasons justify this: boredom, misunderstood courses, etc. In addition to the solutions available to these students, there is also the delayed start of the school year which prevents them from persisting in an unwanted course or from giving up while waiting for the next school year.
The staggered start of the school year then allows the student to:
- Reorienting yourself without wasting time
- Save the year with training that meets your expectations
- Find a solution to your mistake of having oriented yourself incorrectly
- Regain self-confidence while continuing with your academic year
The disadvantages of a delayed start of school
The delayed start of the school year, although offering some advantages, sin on a few points that must essentially be taken into account.
Curriculum lag Making the choice to go back to school at a later date means accepting, starting the school year between January and March with intensive course programs. The difficulty of adapting to the course in a short time can be a problem for many students.
Integration during the year When you join a class during the year, it's more difficult to fit in because the affinities and relationships are already established. Worse, if you're an introvert, integration can take time.
Lack of information Students joining a staggered start may have less advance information about courses, teachers, and available resources. This may result in a longer adjustment period.
Possibility of missing opportunities Depending on when the delayed start of school takes place, students could miss out on opportunities such as internships, group projects, or academic events that take place at the beginning of the year.
However, these disadvantages should in no way discourage you if you are sure of your choice.
