What is the difference between Campus France and Parcoursup?

For your study project in France, be careful not to confuse the Campus France procedure with Parcoursup. These two platforms have very distinct roles in supporting students towards higher education in France.

The Campus France procedure


The Campus France or Studies in France procedure targets all foreign students who want to continue their studies in France. There are 2 different procedures for continuing studies in France by Campus France.

  • DAP: this is the first year of a bachelor's degree, but also studies in architecture and medicine.
  • Excluding DAP: these are applications from the second year of a bachelor's degree to the second year of a master's degree (L2, L3, M1, M2) and applications for DUT (University of Technology Diploma).

  • Submission of the file and payment of fees
  • The individual interview
  • Receiving responses to applications and obtaining the certificate and pre-registration

The Parcoursup: everything you need to know

    Parcoursup is a platform that allows French high school students, future holders of the French baccalaureate and foreign candidates wanting a selective course (BTS, CPGE, DCG) to apply for the 1st year in French higher education.

Who is concerned by Parcoursup?

  • French candidates
  • Students in the final year of Lycée Liberté in the current year must go through Parcoursup (they will go to Études en France only when they have received a certificate of acceptance on Parcoursup)
  • Non-French candidates (and not from the European Union) who wish to join a selective course such as a preparatory class for higher education (CPGE), a management accounting diploma (DCG), a BTS or certain business schools.

Who are not affected by the Parcoursup procedure:
Students who are not affected:

  • students who repeat their first year (they must re-enroll directly at their institution)
  • international candidates subject to an application for prior admission (DAP)
  • candidates who only wish to apply to foreign higher education courses (they must contact the courses they are interested in directly)
  • students who wish to resume the course in which they were enrolled at the end of their gap period (they have the right to reinstate or re-enroll at the end of their gap year).

The phases of the Parcoursup procedure

The procedure of Parcoursup is divided into 4 steps:

  • Information discovery
  • Register and add wishes
  • Completion of the file and confirmation of wishes
  • Main admission phase
