“Welcome to France”, a label to guarantee the reception of foreign students in France

The Label”Welcome to France“was launched in November 2018 as part of a national attractiveness strategy. Under the supervision of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Campus France is responsible for the implementation, management and animation of this label.

The Welcome to France Label was created in order to encourage good practices within higher education institutions and to guarantee the best possible reception conditions for international students.
The objective of this label is to truly attest to the quality of institutions, to their commitment to supporting foreign students.
For a first version of the Bienvenue en France Label, the numbers are quite good:

  • 151 establishments were certified from 2019 to 2023

  • 65% of foreign students are enrolled in a Bienvenue en France establishment

  • 11% of establishments are certified at level 1, 67% at level 2 and 22% at level 3

How is the “Bienvenue en France” label issued to an establishment?

Issued for 4 years, this recognition is awarded according to 20 criteria organized into 5 main points.

Quality and accessibility of information

Students have access to information in multiple languages, including English, and the application processes are completely digitized. In addition, students can consult information about their academic background online.

Accessibility of reception facilities

The establishment offers a multi-purpose reception point in collaboration with local partners such as the Prefecture, the OFII and the CROUS. International students have access to a welcome booklet that is at least partially translated into English and can take advantage of programs to facilitate their integration, including meetings and special events.

Support for foreign students

The graduate school offers training programs in English and provides methodological support online or in person. Students have the ability to access online course resources and communicate remotely with their professors.

The quality of life on Campus

The establishment has an international relations department whose team speaks English. This service offers specific housing assistance by working with a network of local partners.

It actively promotes the integration of foreign students by working closely with the school's student associations.

Post-graduation follow-up

The institution actively supports international students by helping them find internships and offering training programs.

The institution is part of the France Alumni platform and integrates international students into its alumni network, thus promoting their professional development and future opportunities.
