If you plan to continue your studies in France as an international student, one of the essential steps in applying for a visa is to prove that you have the financial resources to support yourself during your stay.

In the absence ofIrrevocable Transfer Certificate, you can present a Certificate of financial support to the French authorities.

This official document confirms that you receive sufficient financial support to cover both your living expenses and your tuition fees in France.

1. The types of care certificate

The financial support certificate comes in two main forms, namely:

- Certificate of partial care

- Certificate of total care

We explain everything to you in the following lines.

a. Certificate of partial care

In this case, your guarantor undertakes to cover your financial needs, i.e. your expenses related to your daily life and your studies in France.

b. Certificate of total care

In addition to financial aspects, this certificate also covers your accommodation costs during your stay in France.

It should include essential information, including:

  • The total amount of funds available

  • The validity period of these funds

  • A detailed description of the financial guarantor

2. Who can issue a financial support certificate?

There are several options available to you to obtain this certificate. If one of your parents or guardians lives in France, they can vouch for you by providing a letter of commitment accompanied by sufficient proof of income.

If you cannot find a guarantor in France, you can turn to specialized financial organizations, such as banks or insurance companies, which issue this type of certificate for a fee.

Whichever option you choose, you will need to gather the necessary documents before applying for a visa. This includes:

  • Proof of family or professional relationship with your guarantor

  • Proof of resources

  • Any other specific document required by the French embassy or consulate in your country
  • 3. Conditions to be met for the supported certificate

Obtaining this certificate requires a solvent guarantor who is able to provide all the necessary documents. It is important to note that the falsification of a certificate or its inaccurate use are subject to legal sanctions, in accordance with thesection 441-7 of the Penal Code.

    The certificate must contain:

    ● Identity of the guarantor

    ● Identity of the beneficiary student

    ● Link between the two

    ● Amount and duration of coverage

    ● Commitment of the guarantor

    ● Signature and date

    ● ID

    ● Resource receipts

It must be written in French.
