The temporary residence permit to search for a job or to start a business allows foreign students and researchers to stay in France at the end of their study or research. This is in order to add professional experience or a first experience in the world of entrepreneurship to their training.
This residence card is only valid for 12 months and is not renewable. During this period, holders of the “job search” or “business creation” residence permit are authorized to:
● Seek and exercise any professional activity without a time limit during the validity of this residence permit

The application for a “job search or business creation” residence permit is made at the prefecture (France) of course before the expiry of your residence permit.
It can also be done at the French consulate in your country of residence. In this case, you left France after graduation and within a maximum of 4 years after the student graduated.
If you meet the conditions, a VLS-TS Visa (Long Stay Visa equivalent to a residence permit) with the mention “job search/business creation” will be issued to you.
Then, you must validate this visa within 3 months following your arrival in France.
Once validated, your VLS-TS will have the same value as the residence card issued by the prefecture to former students who have not left France.
