If you are in France and want to renew your student residence permit, one of the non-negotiable conditions is To prove that you have sufficient resources to live on the territory. In 2025, this amount is estimated at 615 euros per month, or 7380 euros over the year. Without proof of these resources, your file may be refused by theANEF. Fortunately, several ways are recognized by the French administration to prove that you have the necessary resources: we have therefore drawn up the complete list for you.

1. Personal bank statements

It is the most direct solution. You can provide The last three bank statements in your personal account showing that you have the required amount. Attention, the statements must:

  • To be in your name
  • be recent (less than 3 months old)
  • show a sufficient balance or regular inflows (transfers, salaries, grants, etc.)

Statements that are too vague or from shared accounts may be refused.

2. Bank balance certificate available

You can ask your bank to issue a balance certificate available, which proves that you have at least €615 x the number of months left. This certificate must be stamped, signed and dated by the banking institution. Some prefectures prefer it to simple surveys.

3. Care by a relative (certificate of care)

A relative or relative can vouch for you throughA certificate of care. This person will need to:

  • Justify a monthly net income of at least 3,000 euros
  • provide your last 3 payslips or tax notices
  • Attach a proof of identity
  • prove that she is not already taking care of another student (very important!)

A handwritten letter with a sworn commitment is required.

5. Regular money transfer receipts

If your parents or loved ones send you money regularly from abroad, you can provide proof of money transfers (Western Union, MoneyGram...). It is necessary to:
  • that the shipments are frequent (at least every month)
  • that the amount received is close to 615 euros
  • That the receipts are in your name

Careful! Some prefectures refuse this method of proof if it is not accompanied by a personal bank account in France.

6. Scholarship (public or private)

A scholarship certificate (CROUS, Campus France, private institutions, foundations...) is very solid proof. The document should:
  • specify the total or monthly amount
  • Indicate the duration of the scholarship
  • be stamped and signed by the issuing body

Grants that equal less than €615/month must be supplemented by another source of income.

7. Employment contract or pay slips

If you work part-time or while on vacation, you can present:
  • one employment contract(CDI or CDD)
  • Your last three payslips

Attention, the job must respect the authorized quota for a foreign student (964h/year, about 20h/week). The administration will check the consistency with your studies.

8. Proof of passive income

If you have rental income, dividends or other regular sources from an investment or investment, you can declare them, provided you provide:
  • the corresponding bank or tax documents
  • a sworn translation if foreign

This case is rarer, but possible.

9. Bank certificate for a foreign account

Some students want to use their accounts abroad. This is possible if and only if:
  • The certificate is Recent (less than 3 months)
  • The document is Translated into French By a sworn translator
  • The currency is clearly converted to euros

On the other hand, it is more risky because some prefectures refuse accounts not domiciled in France...

And lo and behold, we kept our promise! You can thus see all the means you have at your disposal to justify your resources during your renewal procedures. Just know that not all options are equal in the eyes of the prefecture: if you want to go quickly, stay compliant and avoid stress, remember that Studely can also be your best ally.
